Romney is Right-But His Numbers are Wrong
Mitt Romney made his much anticipated visit to Israel after his first stop, Great Britain, where he wowed the Brits with his public gaffes on the potential security problems which might ensue at the London 2012 Olympics. I'm sure the "Palestinian" leaders feel he made some more gaffes, when he stated that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel--"absolutely unacceptable," according to an Arab official. Not only did he apparently snub P.A. President Mahmoud Abbas, but he had the gall to say what everyone-except the Arabs-know: that it is Jewish and consequently Israeli culture, and may I add faith and values, which helped create the modern, technological, innovative and creative Israel extant today.
It is Jewish culture, and perseverance in the face of adversity and "difficult circumstances," to quote Mr. Romney--a mild euphemism for everybody and his uncle trying to wipe you off the face of the earth--which created a thriving, relatively powerful economy for the size of the country (tiny). Comparing the Israeli GDP to the "Palestinian" one, he stated
The Palestinian economy would improve, I am certain, if they changed their values, from hating and teaching hatred of Jews and Israel, to loving themselves and building their future.
*I couldn't find comprable numbers for the "West Bank and Gaza," but my math skills leave something to be desired, so I'll trust Bloomberg Businessweek News for that one.

Comparing the Israeli GDP to the "Palestinian" one, he stated
"As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality," the Republican presidential candidate told about 40 wealthy donors who breakfasted around a U-shaped table at the luxurious King David Hotel.Yes, there is a difference. However, Mr. Romney's numbers were off. Here are closer to the true numbers, indicating a much greater disparity: Israel's GDP is closer to $31,282 per capita with the West Bank and Gaza's slightly over $1,500.*
