Politics in Total Disarray

  * this post was begun two hours before midnight on Nov. 14th; therefore it covers the 14th and the 15th . I have spoken. America is in deep trouble.  We have few viable candidates for president, neither Republican nor Democrat. On the Democratic side, our current President in my opinion pays lip service to supporting Israel's need for 'security' as he rails against building "settlements".  He is no lover of Netanyahu*, as evidenced by his little conversation with French President Sarkozy with the mike he didn't think was open (*but we sort of knew that before, didn't we, when Bibi visited the White House and was publicly snubbed by Obama); he embraces Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan instead, who has been bad-mouthing Israel and supporting Hamas and Hezbollah, with nary a word from our illustrious President, even though the aforementioned groups are on the U.S. list of terrorist organizations --more his type, I guess. And on the other si...

Ridiculous, and Unacceptable

Image
Abbas made his 'moving' speech before the U. N., and from certain nations, received a standing ovation. Netanyahu spoke, and as far as I am concerned, was too conciliatory and open-armed: 'We are for a two-state solution if you will talk peace and recognize the Jewish State'is basically a summation of what he said. Bibi was much better on Meet The Press on Sunday--he didn't David Gregory "throw him under the bus" the way he was questioning him. Look, think about this: what are the so-called 'Palestinians' ( everyone who lived in the area called 'Palestine' before the State of Israel is a 'Palestinian,' including the Jews) saying? Abbas said in his speech that The core issue here is that the Israeli government refuses to commit to terms of reference for the negotiations that are based on international law and United Nations resolutions, and that it frantically continues to intensify building of settlements on the territory of...

A Frightening Article: The End of Israel (G-d Forbid)?

(nablopomo day 9) Found this frightening article on the Marston Chronicles .  It corroborates what I have posted in the past about Obama being dangerous for Israel.   I am reprinting a part of it here.  Please click on the link to read the rest. We do not usually venture into foreign affairs because politics is our specialty. However, it is politics that is dictating the beginning of the end of the nation of Israel. Israel has become personna non grata amongst the leftists of the Western World. Since the leftists now control virtually all of the countries in the Western World, Israel is in a world of hurt. It is slowly but surely being squeezed to death from all sides. Israel no longer has a friend anywhere in the world. Yet at the same time support for the nation of Israel in the United States is at the highest level in two decades . Surely the United States government is reflecting this support in its foreign policy. That would ordinaril...

Banishing the Darkness with the Truth

Image
I recently discovered (hat tip, my friend Neil) that Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Prime Minister of Israel had an audience with the Lubavitcher Rebbe (ztz"l) Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson , twenty-five years ago, when he was Ambassador to the United Nations. The Rebbe ztz"l spoke with him for 40 minutes, and told him that when he speaks to the United Nations, a bastion of lies and eternal darkness, he should always "light one candle of truth." In this video (video is in Hebrew with English subtitles) Netanyahu is speaking with the Israeli media who asked him if he thought he had legitimized Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, by addressing the issue of the Holocaust. Bibi is telling the interviewer about his meeting twenty-five years ago with the Rebbe and what the Rebbe told him to do; and how telling the truth repeatedly with dignity and strength transcends time.

Bibi Netanyahu: A Speech for Our Time

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. -Sir Winston Churchill. It's about time we had a leader of the state of Israel who doesn't pussyfoot around, doesn't worry about "political correctness," but rather spits out the truth, and tells us his view of the U.N. and their 'Human Rights Commission.' I agree with him on all points, except I am not a proponent of the "two state solution," although I believe he had to say that. My view is, the Arabs have 22 sovereign states, and at least one of them is Palesinian in territory and population. The Jews have only one: Israel. And so it shall remain, one JEWISH state of Israel, eventually between its Biblical borders , forever. Amen, ken yehi ratzon .

The Fool Who Beats His Head Against the Wall

I don't want to say it (besides which, Steven Plaut said it very well first), but Israel is almost like the fool who keeps beating his head against a brick wall again and again, thinking that each time he does it--he might (finally) get the wall to break; instead, his head does (G-d forbid) . Perusing blogs I found this (hat tip Daled Amos ) about fantasy land and wishful thinking on Israel's part: doing the same thing over and over again hoping for different results. It is the " Two States for Two Peoples " fantasy by Plaut, last in the long line of previous fantasies, such as (in no particular order) the Oslo Accords , Camp David , the Road Map , the disengagement from Gaza , etc. In all cases, the surrounding Arab states have not officially recognized Israel as a Jewish state nor its right to exist, nor have the rocket and terrorist attacks against Israelis ceased. Basically it still is as they say the "same old same old." And here comes Israel's Pr...

Sing post title to that tune from the Sesame Street program (Hebrew means "find the differences"). Hat tip: Solomonia .

Bama and Bibi

To listen to President Obama speak about the Middle East, you'd think he was the fairest, most intelligent, reasonable leader the United States has had in a long time. All he wants is peace between the Jewish state and the Arab states, and in a civilized world, civilized man reasons intellectually with his fellow man rather than resorts to primitive actions such as physical violence. It sounds good, really it does. That is what one would expect from an intelligent, reasonable man or woman. I think he's forgotten one minor thing, though: reasoning has a smidgen of a chance of working only if both sides use reasoning towards conflict resolution . The so-called Palestinians don't. So at the first meeting between President Obama and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu in Washington D.C., there was a slight difference of opinion: Bama thinks Israel should stop the Judaisizing of the "occupied territories" (read: Yehudah & Shomron=Judea and Samaria) by stopping and dis...

The BIBI Rap

I saw this first on Rafi's blog, and it cracked me up. Nothing like rap to get out the popular vote, eh? Especially since nothing rhymes with "FEIGLIN." Vote BIBIBI for PM (what's his middle name again?).
