Tikkun Olam

A friend of mine posted an ad on Facebook which really confused me.  Apparently some "gedolim" (yeah, right) decided that most cameras aren't "kosher," because they are capable of...taking videos? I don't have a clue what that means.  My friend suggested--wryly--that these cameras probably don't take pictures of women's faces...   What is 'unkosher' about videos? Is this what Haredi Judaism is coming to?  I'm worried that some Ba'alei Teshuva and some gerim might actually believe this. I remember many years ago being thrilled by the movie Fantastic Voyage , (yes, I know it dates me) all the while believing that it was science fiction.
