He's a Hard-Nose...but What Does That Mean?

This Rahm Emanuel seems to be a very interesting character, who according to Andrew Sullivan's The Daily Dish doesn't mince words.

He has a tough reputation but was also (can you believe it) a dancer. His father is a pediatrician and a former member of the Irgun. He has two brothers, one, Yehezkel (in Hebrew) who is a "noted oncologist" and Bio-ethicist, the other a talent agent in L.A. who apparently inspired the HBO production Entourage.

What does RahmE's appointment mean for the United States? What does it mean for Israel? Here is RahmE's website. I await your comments. . .

Bad news. He's fluent in Hebrew and he stage-directed the Rabin-Arafat handshake.

People - you are mostly living in America and while I share your enthusiasm and myopia for Israel I also can differentiate what is good for the USA. My conclusions are that what is good for the USA in the long run, at this point, is also good for Israel. Not everything that happens in Israel is good and should be condoned at all costs. President-Elect Obama seems to have a knack for picking good people as advisors so let's give the man his chance and accept that he, like all of us, will make mistakes. I remind you that his learning curve is high! He is the American President, and deserves our support.

batya: Yes, I am very aware of that. I am hoping that, after seeing the terrible consequences of that infamous handshake and the Great Peace(!)that ensued from the Oslo Accords, he's changed his tune, and has learned from his mistakes.

I say, let's give him a chance and be optimistic-it's all for the good (yikes. I must be a secret na-na-Nachman kinda girl).
ruti: (are you my ruti?) Myopia? Are you kidding? We criticize Israel at every turn! That doesn't mean we don't love her, but, brother--does she have faults!

Boy, does he have a high learning curve. He's starting from no executive experience and no military experience (Palin, at least, had some, albeit on a much smaller scale).

He does seem to be choosing from strong, experienced leaders as advisors, so I'll give him that.
I am--as are you--hoping (and praying) for the best.

It is hard to make any judgments without giving him some time to start working.

So many things can happen.

jack: Ok, I'll agree to that. I'm hoping all my misgivings about him are wrong, believe me.

Brzezinski spawned Zia al Haq, Khomeini, and bin Laden and wants to break up the superpowers using Aztlan and Kosovo as shown in Joel Garreau's Nine Nations. Brzezinski , Buckley and Buchanan winked anti-Semite votes for Obama, delivered USA to Pope's feudal basket of Bamana Republics. Michael Pfleger and Joe Biden prove Obama is Pope boy. Talal got Pontifical medal as Fatima mandates Catholic-Muslim union against Jews (Francis Johnson, Great Sign, 1979, p. 126), Catholic Roger Taney wrote Dred Scott decision. John Wilkes Booth, Tammany Hall and Joe McCarthy were Catholics. Now Catholic majority Supreme Court. NYC top drop outs: Hispanic 32%, Black 25%, Italian 20%. NYC top illegals: Ecuadorean, Italian, Polish. Ate glis-glis but blamed plague on others, now lettuce coli. Their bigotry most encouraged terror yet they reap most security funds. Rabbi circumcizes lower, Pope upper brain. Tort explosion by glib casuistry. Bazelya 1992 case proves PLO-IRA-KLA links.
