A Great Musical Visit (I soooooo miss my kids!)

Well, Toodles is here for an all-too-brief visit. Will be leaving a week from today for her sister's in sunny Rangoon (just kidding; it's closer than that), yet returning for about a week here for chol ha-mo'ed Sukkot and Simchat Torah, before she returns to sunny-hot-as-heck-Herzliyah.
I splurged and bought her a cheap guitar (what are credit cards for, anyway?!), because she is teaching herself chords.
I am so proud of her: she is doing so much: going to college, working as a webdesigner for her sister's company, is talented in graphic design (she says that's not what you call it, but I don't know what else to call it): she designs people's names in mosaic-type designs, in pen and ink. And now she's teaching herself to play guitar.

Technology is wonderful: I just got off a Messenger video call to my son & new daughter-in-law, and also saw my youngest, who was on a three-day pass from the IDF. Toodles scooted up to the webcam and played her gee-tar, right into her brother-and-sister-in-law's apartment! Aside from the fact that they said it broke their speakers (I think they were kidding), it sounded really good, albeit with a slight split-second delay.

All my kids-except maybe for my eldest (ahem) who takes after her father a little in this regard-are musically inclined, my older son having taught himself how to drum, both sons have beautiful voices, and so do my girls. I so miss our harmonizing Shabbat z'mirot together. . .

Since we could not afford to give them music lessons, those who were interested, began learning on their own; my older son taught himself to drum and was in a band which produced two CDs, my younger son sings and is teaching himself to play the chalil, my youngest daughter now serving in the IDF actually saved up to take voice lessons while she was in high school, אי-שם בשטח in Israel, and now my middlest is composing songs and teaching herself to accompany herself on the guitar while singing. C'mon, ya gotta recognize talent when you see it.

What luck, my 14 year old son was in the room when I clicked over to your blog and got to be amused and inspired by the hand fart video! I can't wait to see what he does when he develops THAT skill! (ha!)

I love the Sabbath song
we used to sing together.
Made in my mind the long,
engorged and veined weather.

anon: I'm sorry, but I don't understand; did we sing Sabbath songs together? Or was that metaphorical?
It is very poetic, though. I think.
We never sang together
a pleasurable groan.
The plucking of a feather
you always sang alone.
