addendum to 'aliyah'...

I just finished reading Irina's account of her first visit to Israel. She said something very important, which expresses what I wanted to say in my last post: Israel is a memory. When a Jew first arrives there, looking at it from the window of the airplane even, he feels as if he has been there before, that he has known it before. That just about sums it up. We've been there before, sometime, somewhere. Is is in our minds.
Is that a collective memory for all Jews? Suffice it to say, we really all were at Sinai...

Kabalisticly speaking, all Jews are fractions of the same soul so we all share that memory. It's an intrinsic part of our spiritual DNA.
Yes...
Except Sinai is not in Israel...

Kasamba:
I like your expression, 'spiritual DNA'; hopefully, we ARE all part of the same soul (even though some people haven't recognized that in themselves, yet...)
David:
Interesting that you say that; I was thinking the same thing-about Sinai not being part of Eretz Yisrael-as I wrote it. We were all at Sinai receiving the Torah, and the Covenant between Hashem and the Jewish People which included the giving of the Land of Israel. So, even though technically it[[Sinai]isn't, the information received was. It is our spiritual memory, as Kasamba says.
Does that explanationspeak to you at all (absolutely NO sarcasm intended here, by the way)?
Sure we were all there and we all are like limbs of one body responsible for one another.

The burning bush wasn't in Israel either, that is a S and N senah, and Mount Sinai, same S and N, sinai. That S means outer focus, or the focus from outside on the coming 'important matters', Moshe knew that. Then the N, this is the 'long awaited day', the making of the Time, 3nd verse, day 4 of creation. The Real thing is focused from without and then brought about, entered into.

Hope you all don't mind. Thanks.

hahaha. You guys are a riot! It really gives me a lift to read all your comments! I called my two sons in H------ in Israel this a.m.to talk and wish them a Shabbat Shalom, and got such a 'chizuk' from each one, it was amazing.
AYALA: I think you DO have an idea how much I miss Israel! And, you are DEFINITELY part of our conversation! (I refuse to ignore your denial!)
JIM: That WAS my site which had the Israel clock! I saw it on Jameel's site (yes, Sabra - and, long time no HEAR from you)and loved it; tried to do the html stuff and when I saw the preview, the time was wrong! So I had it up for two seconds (maybe three) and took it down. Does anyone know how many hours from GMT Israel is?? Maybe I had that wrong;

Yes, it is amazing that feeling of "returning" upon seeing Israel from the airplane window!

Yes it was your blog, I thought so, I saw it like a quick flash, as I was leaving the blog, came back a few minutes later, gone, wanted one.

Then read Sabra's note, checked out her blog, got caught up in that and from there, Jameel, no clock, but the best post I ever read, never got the clock. Nice to have the mystery solved, thanks.

Maybe I'll get one. My friend Jewish Endeavour blog has got the 'headlines' insert from Jerusalem Post, I would like to have that too, it is on her website Jewish Tanakh, links at my blogs.

And I was thinking of a radio, classical music, or Hassidic maybe, from Israel.
